OPCC 5th XI lost to ILFORD 5th by 107 runs at home (Peter May Sports Ground)
Ilford 5th XI 229 for 3 (40 overs) OPCC 5th XI 122 ao.

This was a very disappointing result as Parks lost by 107 runs chasing 230 in the first of the last four 40 over games.
Having won the toss on another scorching day, Ilford had no hesitation in batting first on a dry wicket and lightning outfield.

Parks once again were poor in the field, allowing the batsmen to take advantage of it, and posted 229 in 40 overs. Aahaan Srivastav, a 14-year-old, batted beautifully and produced a match-winning partnership of 221 with number 3 batsman Faris Khan (57) who was dropped early on. Aahaan was unlucky not to get a century finishing on 97 no.

Parks having overcome the rare early loss of Shahid Khan and the in-form Tariq Jameel were well placed at 62 for 2 after 10 overs, but despite a well-made 40 from Akhil Patel and a good start from Aryan Desai (20) the necessary partnerships to get over the line were missing as batsmen got out to what can only described as good bowling attack and excellent fielding of Ilford. Deepak Saini was the pick of the bowlers for Ilford, taking five wickets for 30 runs in 7 overs.

So a disappointing start to the forty overs games, but hopefully we can turn it around in the remaining games.
