Match report Oakfield Parkonians gained a measure of revenge over Ilford with a convincing 93-run victory, inspired by a scintillating innings from Akhil Patel and an excellent fielding display that bundled Ilford out for 178.

Parkonians' total of 271 was built around one of the innings of the season. Akhil Patel was simply brilliant, smashing 90 off just 67 balls — 13 fours and 4 sixes — in an explosive display that took the game away from Ilford single-handedly. He found able support from Siddharth Barua, who grafted a patient 32 off 76 balls to provide the perfect foil, and Ronan Karuna, who contributed a lively 32 of his own before falling to Tayyib Amjad. Amjad proved Ilford's most potent weapon with the ball, tearing through the middle and lower order to finish with remarkable figures of 6 for 46 from 7.3 overs — a devastating spell that prevented Parkonians from posting an even larger total.

Ilford's reply never truly threatened, despite a few individual contributions. Upender Sanga was superb once again, claiming 3 for 30 from 11 overs with his characteristic accuracy proving too much for the middle order. Jonathan Balakumar made an eye-catching impact in his first game of the season, taking 3 for 41 from just 5 overs to immediately announce himself as a valuable addition to the side. Fazan Habib was tidy in his supporting role with 1 for 16, and the young but very promising Aren Parmar chipped in with 2 wickets to round off a collective effort. The fielding & catching was equally impressive, with Parkonians taking 8 catches in total — a phenomenal display that complemented the bowling brilliantly and ensured chances were not squandered when they came. Daniyal Abbasi top-scored with a measured 31 off 54 balls, and Haris Ali Soomro offered some resistance with 28, but no Ilford batter could build the kind of innings needed to mount a serious chase. The visitors were eventually dismissed for 178 in 33.5 overs, handing Parkonians a comfortable 93-run victory.

This was a thoroughly positive team performance and a welcome response after some difficult recent results. Akhil Patel's innings was the standout moment of the day, while the catching display was the discipline that the team could be most proud of.
