Match report Having won the toss and elected to bat first, Parkonians' batting order rose to the occasion magnificently. Krishan Dilipkumar was the standout performer with a blistering 98 off just 66 balls, peppered with 16 fours and 2 sixes at a strike rate of 148 — agonisingly close to a well-deserved century. He anchored the early innings alongside Umesh Jinkas, who contributed a composed 25 before being bowled by Mayur Patel. The innings truly caught fire when Gowtham Sanga strode to the crease. The middle-order mainstay struck a commanding 87 off 75 balls — 13 fours and a six — providing Parkonians with the platform they needed. Aryan Desai then took up the baton magnificently, finishing unbeaten on 70 off 66 balls, including four maximums, to see Parkonians to an imposing 339 for 5 from their 45 overs. For Billericay, Mayur Patel was their most economical bowler with 1 for 39 from 9 overs, while Callum Porter's 2 for 62 gave him figures to take some solace from.

Chasing 340 was always going to be a stiff ask, and Billericay needed something special. They very nearly got it. Mikail Choudhury produced a magnificent innings — 137 off 112 balls, striking 20 fours and a six — that gave Billericay genuine belief deep into the chase. Choudhury batted with tremendous authority and, had he received more support at the other end, the result might have been very different. He was eventually dismissed by Upender Sanga, caught by a sharp Aryan Desai JNR in the field. Anand Patil provided the most meaningful partnership with Choudhury, grinding out a dogged 56 off 66 before being run out by the alert Umesh Jinkas. Upender Sanga was the pick of the Parkonians bowlers, returning an excellent 3 for 29 from 9 overs — a match-defining contribution. Jigar Desai claimed 1 for 67, and Umesh Jinkas took 1 for 50, with two run outs rounding off a disciplined bowling display.A late flourish from Jake Sant — 53 not out off just 37 balls — added some respectability to the total, but Billericay were eventually bowled out for 298 from 45 overs, falling 41 runs short.

While the result was a positive one, the fielding display from Oakfield Parkonians left plenty to be desired, with a number of chances going down throughout the afternoon and perhaps an extra 40 to 50 runs given in the field. If Parkonians are serious about competing for promotion this year, a significant improvement in the field will be non-negotiable.
