Match report In another crucial gameweek for the 2s with just two fixtures remaining, Oakfield Parkonians knew that only a win would keep their promotion destiny in their own hands as they hosted South Woodford in a rain-reduced 35-over clash.

Bowling first, the 2nd XI faced an early test against a positive South Woodford top order. Rian Parmar made the initial breakthrough to remove Arslan Haider (1), before Selva Ramasamy cleaned up the dangerous Muhammad Shafeeq (27 off 25). Aman Ali then produced an outstanding spell of bowling, ripping through the middle order by dismissing both Ibraheem Raza (32) and skipper Ace Khan (32) to finish with brilliant figures of 2 for 26 from his 7 overs. Nauman Butt led the fightback for the visitors with a brisk 53 off 51 balls, but the introduction of Faisal Bhatti (2-32) and Gowtham Sanga (2-35) ensured South Woodford were never allowed to run away with the game. Surya Narayanan contributed in the field as well with a sharp run out of Shafiq Rashid, and despite Mohsin Latif's late unbeaten 31, Oakfield Parkonians restricted South Woodford to 219 for 9.

With skipper Krishan Dilipkumar having to go off after splitting the webbing on his right hand, the batting order was rejigged. Opening the innings in his absence, Aman Ali fell for a duck and Faisal Bhatti departed for 4, leaving Parks in early trouble at 9 for 2. Mannan Arora stepped up to launch an aggressive counter-attack, smashing 8 boundaries in a quickfire 35 off 31 deliveries to settle the nerves. Following Mannan's dismissal at 59 for 3, Surya took complete control of the chase. While Gowtham Sanga (13), Rian Parmar (11), and Vyasan Srividyanandan (14) chipped in with useful cameos, wickets continued to fall at regular intervals.

When Vyasan fell at 134 for 6, the 2nd XI still required 86 runs with the contest hanging right in the balance. Selva Ramasamy joined Surya at the crease, and the pair produced a sensational, match-winning 74-run partnership to completely turn the tide. Surya played the definitive innings of the match, striking 13 boundaries in a masterful 91 off 96 balls before finally departing at 208 for 7 with victory well within sight. Selva held his nerve with a crucial, unbeaten 24 off 26 balls, before Osman Choudhry emphatically finished the match, blasting a rapid 9 off just 3 balls and launching a massive six to seal a famous three-wicket victory with two full overs to spare.

The sensational win propels Oakfield Parkonians straight into the promotion spots heading into the final gameweek. One last victory away at Old Southendians next weekend will officially seal promotion to Division One and cap off an incredible season.
