Match report Walthamstow won the toss and elected to bat first in what was a crunch clash for both sides, pitting second against third with promotion well within reach for each team.

Selva Ramasamy and the returning Rian Parmar opened the bowling in style, hunting in tandem to build relentless pressure from both ends. Selva bowled with pinpoint accuracy and control, while Rian operated with fiery pace and skill, a welcome sight following his seven-to-eight-week injury layoff. Walthamstow had no answers for Selva, who ripped through the top order to claim three quick wickets and leave the hosts reeling at 24 for 3.

A rebuilding effort looked on the cards as Qasim Ali (31*) and Ehsan Tanveer (22) settled in, but the introduction of Tanay Shetty quickly put paid to that. Continuing his stellar season form, Tanay spun a vicious web to snare four wickets and leave the Walthamstow batters in disarray. Jack Gillman (20) offered late resistance as the home side attempted to bat out their allocation. At the other end, Viraj Khagram bowled a superb nine-over spell (0-34), going unrewarded only because a couple of sharp chances were put down. Selva then returned to devastating effect, cleaning up the tail to finish with sensational figures of 6 for 28. Walthamstow folded for just 128, critically yielding only a single batting bonus point.

Chasing a modest target, Parks were mindful to keep wickets in hand to deny Walthamstow any bowling points and close the gap in the table. The reply could not have started better. Krishan Dilipkumar and Faisal Bhatti launched an explosive opening assault, piling on 82 runs in just eight overs. Krishan was in sparkling form, blasting 56 with 11 boundaries and some punishing strokes through the off side. Viraj Khagram then joined the fun, seeing the side home with a classy, unbeaten 36 punctuated by majestic cover drives. Parks wrapped up the chase in a mere 12 overs with nine wickets in hand.

It was an emphatic victory for the 2nd XI, providing massive momentum in their promotion push as they head into the final three fixtures of the season.
