Match report Oakfield Parkonians produced a dominant all-round display to claim a comprehensive eight-wicket victory over Bentley CC, chasing down a target of 225 with an astonishing 13.3 overs to spare.

After winning the toss, Bentley elected to bat first and made a steady start despite losing James Raeburn early for a duck. Ashley Parmenter anchored the innings superbly, compiling a patient 68 from 101 balls, striking seven boundaries and a six. Alongside Phil Coleman (34), Parmenter helped rebuild the innings, taking Bentley to 84 before the second wicket fell. Oakfield's bowlers remained disciplined throughout, ensuring Bentley never fully seized control of the contest. Ryan Karunakaran was the standout performer with the ball, returning outstanding figures of 3 for 43 from his 16 overs, including three maidens. His economical spell applied pressure throughout the middle overs and proved instrumental in restricting Bentley's scoring rate. Luke Whitbourn (26) and Matt Coleman (30) added useful contributions, but Oakfield struck consistently at key moments. Navine Sureshan claimed three wickets of his own, removing Whitbourn, Dylan Hammond and Sean Whelan on his way to figures of 3 for 56. Oakfield's reply began aggressively, with Bilaal Anwar taking the attack to the Bentley bowlers. Although Shahariyar Chaudhry fell for 11 with the score on 20, caught by Matt Coleman off Dylan Hammond, Oakfield never allowed Bentley back into the contest. Anwar struck eight boundaries in a well-crafted 42 before becoming the second wicket to fall at 79. At that stage Bentley may have sensed an opportunity, but what followed was a masterclass in chasing. Ryan Karunakaran completed a remarkable individual performance by backing up his excellent bowling spell with a superb unbeaten 82 from 85 balls. Displaying composure and authority throughout, he struck 11 boundaries and ensured the required rate was never an issue. Alongside him, wicketkeeper Manoj Sarathchandra produced the innings of the match. Arriving at the crease after the first wicket, Manoj unleashed a breathtaking assault on the Bentley attack, smashing 90 not out from just 55 deliveries. His innings featured 16 boundaries and a strike rate of 163.64, turning what could have been a measured chase into a one-sided affair.

The pair shared an unbroken partnership of 148, completely taking the game away from Bentley. Boundaries flowed freely as the duo dismantled the bowling attack, with no bowler able to stem the momentum. Manoj fell agonisingly short of a deserved century, but his explosive knock ensured Oakfield raced past the target in only 36.3 overs.

The victory earned Oakfield Parkonians 20 valuable league points and showcased their strength in both departments. Karunakaran's outstanding all-round contribution of 3 for 43 and 82 not out, combined with Manoj's devastating 90 not out and a disciplined bowling performance from the entire attack, delivered one of the club's most convincing victories of the season.
