Match report Another top of the table clash for Oakfield Parkonians CC 1st XI and this saw them produced a commanding all-round display to secure a comprehensive 101-run victory over Shenfield CC, collecting maximum points after an impressive performance with both bat and ball.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Oakfield made a steady start despite the early loss of Bilaal Anwar for a duck. With the score on 12-1, Shahariyar Chaudhry and Ryan Karunakaran came together to rebuild the innings and laid the foundations for a big total. The pair combined brilliantly, putting on 144 runs for the second wicket and taking the game away from Shenfield's bowlers. Chaudhry anchored the innings superbly, compiling a patient and classy 75 from 89 balls, striking eight boundaries. At the other end, Karunakaran matched him stroke for stroke, scoring 78 from 98 deliveries, including eleven fours. Their partnership ensured Oakfield remained in complete control through the middle overs and set the platform for a late assault. When both set batters departed in quick succession, Shenfield sensed a chance to restrict the scoring. However, Manoj Sarathchandra Dinayadura had other ideas. Producing one of the innings of the season, he launched an attacking unbeaten 79 from just 57 balls, smashing eight fours and two sixes. His aggressive approach transformed a strong total into a formidable one as Oakfield accelerated significantly in the final overs. Supported by Umar Choudhry's 18 and an unbeaten 6 from Paresh Kalley, Oakfield closed on an imposing 269-5 from their 50 overs. Despite disciplined spells from Tom Arnold (1-57) and Alex Rickenbach (0-35), Shenfield's bowlers struggled to contain the depth of Oakfield's batting line-up.

In reply, Shenfield needed a positive start and openers William Howard and Jamie Walton provided one, reaching 82 before the first wicket fell. Walton top scored with 42 from 54 balls while Howard contributed a steady 31. However, once the breakthrough arrived, Oakfield seized complete control. Navine Sureshan was outstanding, bowling with excellent accuracy and discipline to finish with figures of 3-23 from nine overs, including two maidens. His spell removed key middle-order batters and halted Shenfield's momentum. Ryan Karunakaran capped a superb individual performance by claiming 4-45, consistently striking at crucial moments to dismantle the visitors' batting order. The turning point came when Shenfield lost three wickets for just three runs, slipping from 82-0 to 85-3. Paran Kalley then joined the wicket-taking effort, trapping Saarthak Kohli lbw and finishing with an economical 1-36 from nine overs. Paresh Kalley also chipped in with a wicket, while a sharp run out and several excellent catches highlighted Oakfield's commitment in the field. Paran Kalley held two catches, while Bilaal Anwar and Shahariyar Chaudhry also contributed important grabs as Shenfield's innings steadily unravelled. Jack Newton fought hard with 26, but received little support as wickets continued to tumble at regular intervals. Eventually Shenfield were bowled out for 168 in the 40th over, handing Oakfield a convincing 101-run victory.

The win was built on a combination of disciplined batting and ruthless bowling. Centred around major contributions from Shahariyar Chaudhry (75), Ryan Karunakaran (78), and Manoj Sarathchandra Dinayadura (79*), before Karunakaran (4 wickets) and Navine Sureshan (3 wickets) completed the job with the ball, Oakfield delivered one of their most complete performances of the campaign and deservedly walked away with all 25 points.
