Match report After two tough losses in recent weeks, the Sunday A XI were eager to return to winning ways, and they did just that with a solid all-round performance against Roding Valley on a sunny and pleasant afternoon.

Captain Krishan Dilipkumar won the toss and chose to bat first on what looked like a good batting pitch. He opened alongside Faisal Bhatti, and the pair got Parks off to a strong start with a 50-run partnership. Krishan was looking in good touch before falling for 26 to a sharp return catch.

Aman Ali joined Faisal and kept the momentum going with a fluent 39, finding the boundary regularly and rotating the strike well. But it was Faisal Bhatti who stole the show once again. He played a sensational innings of 167 not out, mixing power with finesse. His knock included 22 fours and 4 sixes, and he controlled the innings from start to finish, accelerating beautifully towards the end. It was another reminder of just how valuable he is to this team. There was also a nice late cameo from Upender Sanga, who struck the ball cleanly and helped push the total up to a massive 284 for 3 from the full 40 overs.

Roding Valley were slow with their over rate, which meant they lost two overs and were set a revised target of 285 from 38 overs.

Shyamsundar Alooru and Suyash Agrawal opened the bowling and did a great job of building early pressure. Shyam in particular found good movement and kept things tight. Roding Valley’s opener Mohsen Malik batted well for an impressive unbeaten 103, but wickets kept falling at the other end, which made the chase more difficult. Vijay Vijayanathan bowled a disciplined spell, taking 1 for 41 and keeping the run rate in check. Some sharp fielding, including brilliant catches from Shyam, helped slow things down even more. The key moment came with the introduction of Upender Sanga. Despite picking up a foot injury while fielding, he bowled through the pain and delivered 7 brilliant overs, finishing with figures of 2 for 29. His control and consistency helped seal the game.

Roding Valley kept things interesting, but Parks always had the upper hand. It was a great team effort, with plenty of positives heading into next week’s match against Scintilla. If the team keeps this momentum going, a top-two finish is well within reach.
