Match report Oakfield Parkonians 3rd XI travelled to Frenford for a run-fest and emerged victorious in a high-scoring thriller by 10 runs. Captain Fazan Habib won the toss and elected to bat first on a firm wicket that looked full of runs — and the batters delivered in style.

Umesh Jinka (54 off 82) got the innings going showcasing his immense talent before Akhil Patel stole the show with a sublime and commanding 120 off 103 balls, laced with 20 boundaries and 2 sixes. His timing and placement were outstanding as he paced the innings perfectly. Rian Parmar played a crucial supporting role, scoring a run-a-ball 59, and together they built a dominant partnership that powered Parkonians towards a formidable total. Late cameos from Fazan Habib (25 off 19) and others pushed the team to a commanding 283 for 6 from their 50 overs — an excellent score built on batting depth and intent.

Defending a big total, Parkonians started well with Murugadas Devandran and Sachin Arora picking up early wickets. However, Frenford fought back with multiple half-centuries in the middle order — most notably from Zain Akram (54), Owais Zahoor (52), and a brutal 49 from Wajid Safi that put real pressure on the visitors. But Parkonians held their nerve.

Samay Bhattacharjee delivered a crucial spell, taking 3 for 79 from 13 overs, including key wickets in the middle. Rian Parmar again contributed with the ball, picking up 2 for 29, and both Saching and Murugadas returned at the death to grab the final two wickets, sealing the win as Frenford were bowled out for 273 in 42.2 overs.

It was a match that tested discipline and composure in the field, but the side responded with belief and execution in key moments. The top-order batting platform and calmness in key moments ultimately made the difference. Another important win as the team continues to build momentum in the second half of the season.
