Match report We travelled to Buckhurst Hill on Saturday with a clear focus: to bounce back strongly after three back-to-back losses and deliver a disciplined team performance — and I’m proud to say the boys did just that.

Losing the toss, we were asked to bowl first on a dry, slightly worn surface. The bowlers wasted no time in getting to work. Murugadas Devandran led from the front with a sensational spell, returning figures of 4 for 33 from 9 overs, bowling with excellent rhythm and finding just enough movement to keep the batters guessing. He was ably supported by Janeban Selvamohan, who maintained pressure and bowled excellently throughout his spell and took 3 for 27, including two crucial top-order wickets. Special mention also to Nikhil Mukherjee (2 for 10) who kept it tight and broke a key late partnership. Every bowler stuck to their plans, and we backed them up with sharp fielding and safe hands (7 catches in total). Buckhurst Hill were bowled out for 92 in 29.5 overs, a total that reflected our intensity and commitment in the field. Special mention to Gowtham Sanga (aka Gowtham McGrath) too who bowled and fielded exceptionally.

Our chase wasn’t without hiccups. We lost a few early wickets, with their opener Tahmid Uddin bowling a fiery spell and finishing with 3 for 25. But credit to our top and middle order for showing resilience. Surya Narayanan gave us a solid start with a well-made 26, and after a middle-order wobble, it was down to Nikhith Poddutoori (20 not out) and Matthew Holland (9 not out) to calmly steer us home with a composed partnership under pressure. We reached our target in the 27th over, finishing on 94 for 5, securing a deserved 5-wicket victory.

Overall, it was a satisfying day of cricket where we stuck to our strengths, delivered a well-rounded team performance and had so much fun. There’s plenty still to improve, but the attitude, application, and togetherness on the field were brilliant to see.
