Match report A tough day at the office for the 3s as we fell short against Chelmsford in our home fixture on Saturday. After winning the toss, we elected to field first. The boys started well with the ball, showing good control early on. Rian Parmar bowled with real intent, finishing with 3 wickets, while Janeban and Nikhil chipped in with 2 well-earned scalps. Despite our efforts, Chelmsford’s opener, Jack Campion, proved difficult to dislodge, anchoring their innings with a well-made 85. We managed to restrict them to 193 in 39 overs, which felt chaseable at the halfway stage.

Unfortunately, our response with the bat never really got going. A few early wickets put us under pressure, and although there were moments where we looked like rebuilding, we lost wickets at regular intervals. No one was able to play the anchoring role that was required, and we were eventually bowled out for 105.

Plenty to take away from the game — there were flashes of quality, especially with the ball, but we’ll need to apply ourselves better with the bat. Credit to Chelmsford who executed their plans well. We'll regroup at training, focus on the basics, and come back stronger next week.
