Match report Parks travelled to the picturesque Billericay ground on a warm, sunny day to kick off the 2025 season. Captain Fazan Habib won the toss and, after some deliberation, elected to bowl first — a decision influenced by several players making their Parks or League debut.

Muru and Sachin opened the bowling with tidy, economical spells but were unlucky not to find early wickets. The breakthrough eventually came courtesy of a sharp direct hit from young gun Rian Parmar, who set the tone in the field. Despite the early success, wickets proved hard to come by, and Parks were forced to go on the defensive to keep the total within reach. The standout moments of the match from a Parks perspective came from the next generation: Rian, Nivain, and Aadhi all claimed their first senior league wickets — a proud milestone for the club. Each bowled with heart and commitment, supported by a tight, composed spell from the ever-present Shankar. Billericay posted 223, a total Parks were satisfied with at the break, especially considering pre-match chatter had pegged a par score on that ground closer to 250–300.

As the day wore on, the pitch deteriorated — becoming slower, lower and more difficult to score fluently on. Billericay capitalised, bowling disciplined lines and maintaining pressure. Despite determined contributions from Ibad, Rian, and Nikhith, the run rate eventually climbed beyond reach. Chasing at over nine runs per over for the final 15 overs proved a bridge too far, and Parks fell short.

It was a spirited showing from a young and relatively inexperienced side — full of effort, learning, and promise. Plenty of positives to build on and Parks now look forward to the next game.
