After a defeat to Fives the previous week, Oakfield Parkonians travelled to South Woodford to face a side sitting 8th in the league table, who had also beaten them earlier in the season. On a pitch that looked good for batting, the hosts chose to bat first.

Their openers started positively in the powerplay, but Oakfield struck early, removing one for 9. The other opener looked dangerous, scoring freely, before he was caught by Tanay at mid-off off Bijay’s bowling for 25, leaving South Woodford 56/2. Bijay and Zain bowled excellent opening spells, taking both openers and applying pressure.

The South Woodford skipper attempted to rebuild, rotating the strike and punishing loose deliveries. However, Oakfield’s spinners continued to chip away, with wickets falling at regular intervals. Tanay (2 wickets) and Nikhil (4 wickets) were particularly effective, ensuring the hosts were bowled out for 185 in 36.1 overs.

Chasing 186, Oakfield got off to a superb start. Faisal and Umesh put together a commanding 138-run partnership that took the visitors past the drinks break in full control. Faisal was outstanding, scoring a fluent 96, while Umesh supported well with 36.

Despite a small wobble with three quick wickets—Faisal (96), Umesh (36), and Shahariyar (14)—Oakfield only needed 21 more runs. Mannan and Nikhil calmly saw the side, sealing a 6-wicket victory with more than 14 overs to spare.

The win lifted Oakfield Parkonians into joint 5th place alongside Wickford, capping a strong all-round performance.
