Match report On a beautiful sunny day, Parks played their 4th league fixture at home against Stanford Le Hope who won the toss and chose to bat first. Adarsh Nair (8-1-45-3) opened the bowling with Rian Parmar (8.5-0-55-2), a 13y old with immense talent and great potential as an all-rounder, who was making his debut for 2s. Stanford’s openers came with aggressive intent and played some risky shots which paid off in the start but soon their luck ran out and Adarsh managed to send their top 3 batters back to pavilion. Rian was unlucky to not get a wicket in his opening spell due to a drop catch at midwicket. But the youngster didn’t let this affect him and kept working hard and was rewarded with 2 wickets in his 2nd spell.

Zain (8-1-35-2) and particularly Upen (9-1-27-1) kept bowling good areas and made it difficult for opposition to score freely and soon they were 117-7 but their lower order showed some resistance and 8th wicket partnership of 71 runs helped them to reach 216 when they were bowled out in 41.5 overs.

In reply, Parks didn’t have a good start and lost Neil (4) in 3rd over when the score was 7. Aman (71) joined stand in skipper Faisal (121*) and had a great partnership of 141 runs which took the game away from opposition. Aman played with great composure and kept the bowlers under pressure with quick scoring. Parks were 151 when Aman got out. Parks lost their 3rd wicket of Krish (7) when score was 184. This brought Mannan (6*) at crease who looked very comfortable and did his job to stay not out.


Parks chased down the score in 35.5 overs. This victory takes us to joint 3rd in the league and with only 2 points off the top spot. Parks will be looking to continue winning streak next week at home against Colchester.
