Match report After a long rain delay, Oakfield Parkonians vs Westcliff-on-Sea, was going to go ahead. All the other games in the league were cancelled and this game was reduced to a 34 over and 32 over game. Westcliff won the toss and chose to bowl first with the conditions being bowler friendly. Parks didn't get off to the best of starts losing early wickets and the pitch doing all sorts. 136 was needed to reach full batting points and at 60-6 this didn't look like a possibility. However, the lower order for Parks wagged for Parks and showed how deep we actually do bat. Paresh Kalley batting at 8 added 24, Sifth Ali at number 9 got 18, Navine Sureshan at 10 got 22 and James Foley at 11 got 17. Now although our lower order was able to add runs the signs were that the pitch was getting easier to bat, but to end up on 143 all out after fighting our way back throughout the whole innings was an excellent effort from the lower order. Defending 144, the boys were optimistic as we were confident we could get a few wickets with the new ball just like they did.

However, the sun came out during tea and the pitch flattened out a lot. Not only did the batsment of Westcliff bat extremely well, we did not bowl well. They punished us for bowling to straight and not making the use of some chances and chased down 144 inside 16 overs. We were only able to pick up one wicket, but we left the game with 8 points which is 2 points more than everyone else in the league got. We are now facing an upward battle to gain promotion although the dream isn't dead yet, leaving the next 2/3 games of the season being vital.
