Match report Parks 5s travelled to South Woodford to face their 4s in the return game looking to avenge defeat. Unfortunately the weather played a big part in the game delaying the start and interrupting the game twice.

Vijay won the toss and SW were asked to bat first in the first timed game this season. When the rain subsided Sth. Woodford started steadily and were looking solid until Kalai claimed Garfield Mitchell's wicket LBW. Stand-in skipper Andrew O'Brien made 17 before falling to a stunning diving catch by Vijay in the slips off the bowling of Aryan Desai.

The bounce was a little variable, resulting in a lot of wickets falling bowled and LBW keeping low - while the odd ball popped up to rap the fingers.

Adrish Ahmad made a good 46 to hold things together for Sth Woodford, but wickets fell regularly and it looked like Parks would wrap things restricting the opposition to around 130. However Mashuk Choudhury had other ideas and batting with the tail he went on the attack. Supported by Ataaib Khan who made 17 and #11 Harry Eades who held up one end making just 1. Vijay finally got bored and decided to bring himself on to bowl to finish things taking Mashuk's wicket bowled for a crucial 35 runs.

Aryan Desai bowled beautifully to take 5 wickets in his 14 overs for 66 runs. Nav Kalley took 3 for 39 in his 9 overs. Kalai and Vijay chipped in with another wicket each. Sth Woodford finished their innings 161 all out off 30.1 overs, leaving some extra overs for Parks to face.

Veteran Waqar and young Awn started well. Waqar dealt mostly in boundaries punishing the bad deliveries until he he was bowled for a well made 29. Awn held it together with a patient 18 until he fell to a run out. Rain frustratingly interrupted the innings a coupe of times reducing the overs.

Bal, Tariq, Ramesh and Nilay all came and went falling to accurate bowling without reaching double figures, leaving skipper Vijay to rescue the situation supported by Aryan again this time with bat in hand.

Sth Woodford thought they were in the game all through due to the variable behaviour of the pitch and their accurate bowling. Vijay was hit on the hand a couple of times, and Aryan had to fend off deliveries swinging in violently off the pitch towards his head and upper body - somehow finding a way to get a lot of them away for runs.

With about 4 or 5 overs remaining Vijay and Aryan agreed that the target could be chased as the game seemed safe with wickets in hand and they set about upping the scoring. In a nail biting finish with 12 runs required off 12 balls they managed to score 6 in the penultimate over leaving 6 more required in the final over.

Sth Woodfords best bowler Shiraaj Burah bowled the last over and somehow managed to restrict Parks to 4 runs with a few dot balls outside off-stump that kept low and were almost impossible to hit for runs. So Parks were denied their first win of the season by just 2 runs, but earned a "winning draw". A massive improvement on previous weeks. Vijay finished on 50 runs (after a recount) and Aryan on 31 who was run out at the end of the last over.

Next week Parks are at home at Oakfield facing Gidea Park & Romford and will be looking to grab their first win.
