Match report OPCC 5th XI lost Wanstead & Snaresbrook 6th Xi by 3 wickets.

Another disappointing results as Parks lost by 3 wickets despite a valiant effort from the eight bowlers used in a contest that should have been won if Parks had batted well on a flat pitch and posted a par score of 170 or more.
Batting first after winning the toss Parks had a dissaterous start as lost 3 quick wickets inside first 6 overs. The Skipper Vijay Vijayanathan (32) and Waqar Yusuf (26) took responsibility to rebuild the innings with a valuable partnership of 69, but after both were out the only other two batsmen to get double figures were Ramesh Manickavasagam (13) and the debutant Vishlesh Oza (12). Parks finished their premature innings in 30.5 overs with a score at 135. This seemed about 30 -40 runs short and so it proved.

The openers for W&S started their innings causiously to see through the tight opening spell from Nav Kalley and Muhammed Kazi but both lost their wickets in quick succession after 10th over. Despite W&S had a middle order collapse, the number 3 batsman Shakeel Ahmad took the game away from Parks and made a match winning innings before he was brilliantly caught at the deep extra cover by Hassam Jamil for 43 off Aryan Desai who particularly bowled well and took 3 wickets in his spell of 7 overs conceding only 12 runs. Parks were unable to take the last 3 wickets as the young player Rayyan Adil played sensibly and ensured his team to bring home victory. W&S reached their target with 4.3 overs to spare. It was a good game of cricket but Parks need to upskill their performance in all departments to be successful in the coming weeks. We will be playing time games for the next 7 weeks before we revert to 40 over games for the last four.
