Match report OPCC 5th XI lost to Belhus 4th XI by 5 wickets 39 played away at South Ockendon
OPCC 5th XI 159 all out in 39.3 overs, Belhus 4th XI 160 for 7 in 33.3 overs.

Parks lost the toss and were inserted on a tricky pitch. Parks innings started in the worst possible way when Bal Diocee opening with a young Awn Minhas was bowled in the second over by an in swinging ball from the young George Bowden and Parks were left reeling at 21 for 3 by the 5th over mark.

Experienced batsman Tariq Jameel joining the skipper Vijay Vijayanthan at number five, were the only players to show any application on a pitch that kept low at times, had to steady the ship and put a valuable partnership of 101 to bring the score to 128 after 25th over. After Tariq Jameel’s (34) departure Vijaya Vijayanathan (70 no) ran out of partners as wickets fell around him. Parks ended their innings with a disappointing total of 159 all out with three balls to spare.

In reply, Parks openers Aryan Desai (5-3-14-1) and young talented Faris Sohail (6.3-0-23-0)on his debut in senior game bowling tight lines to apply pressure early on. Despite Balhus losing opener Ryan Prendergast cheaply to Aryan Desai’s in swinger, Balhus skipper Scott Sinfield and the incoming Essex under 13 player Vansh Mehra at number three batted well to keep up the required run rate and brought the score to 79 until the skipper was bowled by Raj Rathlavath, playing cross the line. Raj had Marker adjudged LBW in the very next ball. Raj Rathlavath’s ground fielding was commendable as he ran Vansh Mehra out with a direct hit when he was on 44, but in the end Parks failed to defend the low par score despite Belhus had a middle order collapse and lost the game by 3 wickets.

For the third week in a row, Parks were not able to register a win in the league campaign but would take all the positives from this game going forward. 5th XI had played three Under 13 colts debuting in senior game who impressed their performances, and it was very pleased to see their potential of becoming good cricketers for our club.
