Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won by 4 Wickets

Match report A must win game for Parks this week being only one spot above the relegation zone. Hutton having gone the first 6 games of the season came in with three losses on the trot to their name and wanted it to change. Hutton captain won the toss and elected to bat first, exactly what skipper Jonathan would have wanted.

Rasheed Siryala (3/23 off 11 overs) coming back into the 2XI opened the bowling and kept very tight lines and picked up 3 crucial wickets in an 11 over spell! Captain Jonathan Balakumar partnered Rasheed with the new ball, and picked up the crucial wicket of the Hutton overseas! The in came Viraj Khagram (2/28 off 16 overs) and Prajen Kavinkumar (3/53 off 13 overs), who bowled a total of 29 overs between them and picked up a total of 5 wickets. This brought Hutton’s total to 226 for 9 off 50 Overs, where Parks were confident that this was achievable as they had a strong batting line up.

Neil Brathwait and Bilal Anwar opened up for Pakrs, but fell in the first 7 overs. Sahil Handa steadied the ship (30), but in came the man of the hour Aman Ali. Aman structure a strong and aggressive innings to bring up his first ton of the season, which included 13 fours and 3 sixes bring Parks into touching distance of the win. Contributions from Prajen Kavinkumar(22), Rohit Ananeraj (19) and Viraj Khagram (26*) brought parks over the line with an over to spare!

The lads played as a unit and showed the league what they are capable of if they put thei minds to it! We play Hutton again next week and hope we can come back with the same result!
