Match report After last weeks abandoned game it was important that the first XI got a game in today to keep their promotion hopes alive. Skipper Paran Kalley won the toss against Woodfrdo Wells and elected to field first with the bad weather we had throughout the week. .

Oakfield Parkonians' bowlers faced a determined Woodford Wells batting lineup. Their overseas Cooray was the standout performer with the bat, anchoring the innings with a splendid 85 off 95 balls, including seven boundaries and one six. He was well-supported by Aiyar, who played a patient knock of 64 off 110 balls, ensuring a steady flow of runs while wickets fell at the other end. The bowling attack for Oakfield Parkonians was led by Priyamal Perera, who was the most successful, claiming 3 wickets for 65 runs in his 16 overs. Sifth Ali provided crucial breakthroughs, taking 2/67 in his 13 overs, while Viraj Khagram and Paran Kalley picked up a wicket each. Despite their efforts, Woodford Wells managed to post a challenging total of 251.

In response, Oakfield Parkonians' chase got off to a cautious start, with openers Faisal Bhatti and Mitkumar Patel trying to build a platform. Bhatti played a solid innings, scoring 42 off 58 balls. Umar Choudhry contributed 26 off 42 balls, but it was the middle-order collapse that hampered their chase. Priyamal Perera, after his exploits with the ball, scored 28 off 42 balls, trying to stabilize the innings. However, quick wickets from Woodford Wells, put Oakfield Parkonians on the back foot. Midway through our chased needing 160 runs off 20 overs and the game in the balance, the Wells skipper appeared to have injured his ACL really badly. This put a dealy of up to 45 minutes in the game which resulted in us losing 12 overs. So the scenario was now 160 runs from 8 overs due to the time we had lost. Therefore we could only reach 150 to ensure we would get some batting points. Not the best way to end game but we hope the Skipper Joe gets well soon and recovers well and we are still in the Promotional hunt being 13 points off second.
