Match report n a gripping encounter between Oakfield Parkonians CC, Essex and Woodford Green CC, Woodford won the toss and elected to field. Oakfield Parkonians setup a total of 259 for 9 in their allotted 50 overs. Despite a shaky start with three early wickets falling for zero runs, the middle order provided stability. Paresh Kalley top-scored with 62 off 63 balls he batted with extreme calmness and ran well between the wickets and then put the bad balls away when given the chance and held down one end for us. He was excellently supported by Tarun Bhatia (25) who controlled the middle period for us. Both batted with maturity and set up and excellent platform for those to come in. They were well supported by crucial contributions from Sifth Ali (54* off 38) and Klain Fernando (44 off 42). Who put on 100 runs for the 9th wicket and again similar to Paresh and Tarun the running between the wickets between those two was really good to watch. Sifths powerful hitting towards the last 2-3 overs put the pressure back on Woodford and allowed us to reach an excellent score of 259 that seemed a long way away when we were 0 for 3.

In response, Woodford Green's batting lineup struggled to build momentum, falling behind the required run rate. Fred Marshall offered some resistance with a brisk 43 off 36 balls, while Naseer Ud Din remained unbeaten on 42 off 36. However, the combined efforts of Oakfield Parkonians' bowlers, particularly Paran Kalley who took 3 for 18, restricted Woodford Green to 200 for 8 in 45 overs. Parks did everything they could to try and pick up those last couple wickets and tried everything and with very attacking fields in the last 5-7 overs allowed Woodford to get a little closer to the target. There wasn't much the Parks boys could have done on the day unfortunately and threw everything at Woodford to try and get an result but it wasn't meant to be.
