Parks 5th XI suffered another defeat in successive weeks resulting in being dropped to 4th position in the league table.
After winning the toss and inserting the opposition to bat on a poor wicket, Nav Kalley and Sachin (10-2-39-1) opened the bowling with great skill using the condition of the wicket and put opposition batters under a lot of pressure. Especially Nav Kalley’s devastating spell of 11 overs earned him a well deserved 7 wicket haul for 27 runs. Despite a brilliant start with the ball by Parks, Walthamstow scored 86 thanks to middle order batsman Abdulla Abassi’s cameo innings of 19 and the last man Naveen Nanjappasetty’s late contribution of 15.
Parks went out to bat needing a modest 87 runs to win, however early wickets meant that Parks crumbled to 48 all out in 25 overs, only batsman to get a double figure was Waqar Yusaf (14) who played sensibly on a difficult wicket. Fareed Ahmad was the pick of the bowler for Walthamstow who took 6 wickets for 3 runs.
This was the third match lost by the 5th XI at the half way through the season but being fourth in the table it is still possible to regain the top spot.
