Upon winning the toss, the Parks skipper opted to take the field on a blustery and overcast day for this away fixture. The opening pair for West Essex started off on an optimistic note, although it was Janeban Selvamohan (8-0-56-1) who managed to make a breakthrough in the fourth over. when Aayush Desai took a smart catch at covers. A resurgence was brought forth by the returning young paceman, Ashwin Sureshan (8-0-16-2), who showcased his bowling prowess and effectively stifled the opposition's progress from one end, dismantling two crucial middle-order wickets.
