Match report OPCC 4s drew with Walthamstow 4s

Parks hosted the penultimate time-game against Walthamstow on a windy but dry day. After losing the toss, Parks were asked to bat first. The opening batsman, Krishan Dilipkumar, showcased his excellent form and immediately went on the offensive, scoring at an impressive rate of 8 runs per over. Krishan's brilliant innings of 68 runs, which included 12 boundaries, contributed significantly to Parks reaching the 100-run mark by the 12th over. The team maintained their momentum as both Fazan Habib and the returning Usman Rafiq kept the scoreboard ticking and the Walthamstow bowlers struggling to find a solution. Fazan emerged as the top scorer with 87 runs, showcasing 9 boundaries and 3 sixes, while Usman scored 56 runs with 7 boundaries and 1 six. A quick-fire 37 runs by Fahad Yusaf and a valuable 17 off just four balls by Princis Alvin enabled Parks to declare at 297-5 after 40 overs.

In response, Walthamstow's opening batsmen found it difficult to score against the disciplined seam attack of Princis Alvin (13-0-69-1) and Janeban Selvamohan (10-0-60-1). Although debutant colt Terry Ranjit (6-0-23-0) bowled well, he was unfortunate not to secure a wicket. Praven Sureshen (2-0-14-1) picked up the third wicket when young Terry Ranjit took a brilliant catch at midwicket. The pitch seemed to favour the batsmen, and wickets were hard to come by. Despite trying seven different bowlers, Parks' could only manage to take 3 wickets, and the match seemed to be heading towards a draw, as neither side could find the desired result. In the end, Walthamstow concluded their innings with 245-3 after the allotted 45 overs, with number three batsman Benjamin Fernandez-Steel playing a well-crafted innings of 105.

Currently positioned 8th on the league table, Parks will need to secure victories in their upcoming games to avoid getting trapped in the relegation zone.
