Match report With promotion no longer chasable and relegation not to worry about, Oakfield Parkonians found themselves playing in a few dead rubbers to end the season. We travelled to promtoion chasing Springfield, where we won the toss and elected to bat first. Openers got us off to a decent start but we lost a flurry of wickets and we were once 30-0, quickly became 60-5 at drinks. Faisal Bhatti (75) continued to bat as well as he has done all year, using his head and weathering the storm when needed but also hitting th accelarator too. He was well backed up by Viraj Khagram (52) who showed his intent from ball one. He worked the ball into the gaps well and depositied the bad balls when they came. At one stage it didn't look likely we were going to get up to 150 so to go past 200 was a good effort from those two batsmen. Unfortunately, there was no other noticeable innings with the next top score after those two being 18 and that sums up our season with the bat. It is the reason why we aren't pushing for a promotion place and is our downfall this year.

Their chase went smoothly for them. We did not trouble them at all with the ball. It was good to see young Aymaan Rifan bowl well in his first ones game and trouble their overseas a few times but again there was nothing to mention. Springfield showed our batsmen how to conduct an innings and go about batting on what was a batsmen friendly wicket, they stayed patient and put the bad balls away when they got them. It was clear to see why they were in the promotion hunt and we weren't. They were better than us in all departments on the day and overall deserved the win.
