Match report After last weeks opening win against Horndon Parks were looking to build on the good momentum with a trip to Garons Parks to face Old Southendians. After having beautiful weather all week and the pitch looking like a batsmen friendly one, skipper Paran Kalley won the toss and elected to bat first. Parks lost open Bilaal early on, but Paresh Kalley (57) and Vibhor Yadav (24) steadied the ship and were both looking in good touch. There were more starts lower down with Umar Choudhry (34), Paran (36) and Sahil (29) all looking in good touch. But with the loss of wickets in clusters and batsmen not being able to convert on the starts they had made and it meant that Parks were bowled out for a below par total of 261 with still 7 balls remaining of the first innings. It wasn't a total Parks looked liked getting as when they had both Paresh and Umar set at the crease 300 was well on the cards.

At the halftime stage Parks were still confident with their total and had the belief they had the right bowlers to defend the total. Anujan Thiru (8-1-38-1) picked up the first wicket early on and he and Vib (10-1-37-0) bowled with excellent line and lengths and didn't allow the Old Southendian batsmen to score freely. But a mixture of the conditions and poor fielding meant that the batsmen were able to build momentum throughout the innings and showed the Parks boys how crucial it is to capitalize on big runs when you are set at the crease. Their batsmen did bat well but did also offer Parks a few chances to get back in the game but the boys found themselves falling asleep in the field which meant those chances weren't taken by the boys. Old Southendians ended up chasing the total with 13 balls to spare and really found it easy in the end, It wasn't the result the boys were looking for but is important to bounce back against top of the league Orsett and Thurrock next week.
