Match report After last weeks wash out, it was important to get back to winning ways and this week we welcomed third place Orsett who are also pushing for a promotion spot. Parks won the toss and elected to bat first, aiming for the bonus points with batting and also with some rain forecasted Parks wanted to ensure they were in the driving seat. Things got off to a good start with all of the top 4 getting starts and doing really well to take the attack to the Orsett bowlers. But 60-1 quickly became 75-4 and Parks were immediately on the backfoot. However, a well earned 70 run partnership between Vibhor Yadav (58) and Paresh Kalley (23) put Parks back in the driving seat. With the pitch favouring the bowlers and the outfield not being as quick as we are used too at Oakfield. But a 60 run partnership between Klain Fernando ( 31) and Tarun Bhatia (37) counter attacked in style and really ended our innings on high. 247 for 7 after 48 overs it was a skippers decision to declare and give orsett 47 overs to chase 248 which Parks were confident in defending and knowing Orsett had to go for the win were confident of trying to force a result.

Orsett got off to a good start and were putting the pressure on the Parks bowlers. A mixture of some very poor fielding and inconsistent bowling allowed Orsett to take control of the game and look as though they were going to ease to victory after being 80 without loss. The boys managed to get a few wickets back to back but this wasn't enough to put the brakes on the Orsett attack. The opening bat made a well earned 100 for Orsett although he was dropped 3-4 times he batted with maturity and it seemed as though luck was on his side for this innings. Going into the last 17 overs all 3 results were possible with Orsett needing 90 runs for victory and Parks needed 7 wickets to win. We only managed to pick up 1 wicket and Orsett won the game with 3 overs to spare. The poor effort from the boys in the field really put a downer on the performance because the first innings was so good for the boys. Following the loss promotion now looks unlikely for Parks this season although it still is mathematically possible. Parks have to dust themselves down and go again for a big game against Westcliff next week.
