Match report After last weeks disappointing result against Orsett, Oakfield Parkonians needed to bounce back this week with a win and start of their home season in the best way. The weather had been hot and sunny all week so it was an important toss to win in the hope to get some runs on the board and build pressure on Westcliff who like Parks are 1 win from their first 4 games. Westcliff won the thoss and elected to bat first in what seemed like it was batsmen friendly conditions.

Vibhor Yadav (10-6-20-3) and Anujan Thiru (10-6-11-4) oened the bowling for Parks and wow did they bowl well. It was the best spell of opening bowling I have witnessed at Parks in a long while. The pair of them bowled with excellent line and length and didn't allow the opposition batsmen to score freely at all. To bowl 12 maidens in the opening 20 overs shows how dominant they were in the opening overs. Both bowlers deserved 5fers and still wouldn't have justified how well they bowled. Parks did well to hold onto certain catches at the beginning and this week the boys were loud and confident in the field. We took every half chance and fielded well on what was tough outfield conditions. Westcliff found themselves being bowled out for 64 within 27 overs. The boys were more than happy with their performance but knew it was only 50% of the game done.

The chase got off to a good start with the opening batsmen scoring a third of the runs without losing any wickets. But then Parks lost 3 quick wickets with the score just at 30. but Bilaal Anwar (19*) and Paran Kalley (14*) saw the game home for the boys. They soaked up the pressure from losing the wickets but then counterpunched and played their shots. It is an excellent win for Parks and puts us back to winning ways and now the boys look to a tough game against Wickford next week which sees the start of the timed games.
