Match report The 2023 season started with a delayed fixture to Premiership side Hutton. With the bad weather around it was a toss that both captains wanted to win.

Hutton won the toss and to no ones surprise they opted to field first with conditions and the pitch being very bowler friendly. Parks got off to a good start being at 30 without loss after 10 overs and it felt like Parks were dealing with conditions really well. However, 30-0 quickly became 65-6 within 10 overs. Surprisingly the seamers weren't the ones doing the damage it was the spinners. The ball was absolutely ragging from the minute the spinners came on and it was something that the batsmen weren't expecting. Parks could only reach a total of 91 with only 3 batsmen getting into double digits.

The chase wasn't difficult for Hutton, the pitch had seemed to dry up and became a lot easier to bat on. Parks were able to pick up one wicket and Adil bowled really well but defending 91 was always going to be difficult. The gulf of class was evident between the two sides and can be seen as to why Hutton are a Prem team. They are a well drilled side and we wish them well for the 2023 season.

As for the lads there were a lot of disappointed faces in the dressing room after which is good to see but it was a lot of the guys first game on grass and first game of the season so it was about spending time in the middle and dusting down the cobwebs in order to be ready for the league campaign that kick starts this week against Benfleet.
