Match report A long journey away to bottom of the league Orsett was the challenge this weekend for the in-form 4s side. Orsett were on the brink of relegation - they simply had to win to have any chance of staying up in the division. Stand in captain Fazan Habib lost the toss and his side were put into bat on what can only be described as the bare minimum required to allow any contest between bat and ball.


Parks struggled to adapt early on to the pitch with so much inconsistence bounce and pace. However, Yash Patel had no such issues hitting an aggressive quick fire 38 but wickets tumbled regularly - Ibad Usman, Fazan Habib and Maran Mariyathas all fell cheaply. This presented an opportunity for young Vajran Srividyanandan to showcase his talent - he played with such a calm demeanour, watching the ball very closely and elevated the teams score by constructing an excellent 76 - playing some eye catching shots on both sides on the wicket. This contribution was extraordinary on a really difficult pitch, especially given the pressure of the match situation on top of that. Vajran was extremely well supported by the experienced Kavinkumar Veloopillai, who played the perfect support role (21) at a time where Parks needed a partnership to get to a competitive total. The innings ended with another flurry of wickets but Parks managed to get to a very competitive total of 228 all out.

Orsett opening batsmen struggled against the youth of Sriraman Srividyanandan and younger brother Vajran Srividyanandan - both opening bowlers troubled the batsmen with their pace & movement, using the pitch wisely to make it very uncomfortable for the opposition. Sriraman was again the star of the show, following up on last weeks 4 wicket haul with another almost identical feat -taking 4 wickets for 25 runs in his 8 overs. Kavinkumar Veloopillai continued to apply the pressure by bowling with excellent accuracy and skill (8-2-19-1) to hold up one end, whilst the other two spinners - Praven Sureshen (1 wicket) & Kajanantis Skandamoorthy (2 wickets) contributed around him. Maran Mariyathas and Yash Patel came on late in the innings to seal Orsetts fate with one wicket each. The match ended in poetic fashion with Fazan Habib taking the final catch to seal his maiden win as a captain - thank you to all the boys for their effort and contribution on the day. It was another good performance on a tricky pitch, making it no defeats in the last 5 games with 4 wins and 1 draw.
