Match report Winning the toss, Orsett’s captain invited the home team to bat first on a day that went from a hot muggy to windy and freezing within few hours.

Parks started their innings cautiously against some tight bowling from Orsett’s tall opening bowler Lewis Markham who bowled with pace and bounce. Parks lost their first wicket on the 5th over when opener Amar Desai nicked a rising ball from Markham to the keeper with the score at 13. Thomas Vernes joined Fazan Habib and both batsmen played some attacking shots to get the scoreboard moving until Thomas got out caught at long on for 28. Fazan played some beautiful shots including two massive sixes to long-off but got bowled by an unplayable delivery from U13 pacer Harry Fogg for a well made 30. At the 16th over Parks were 75-3 and was in a good position to score big. However, the rest of the batsmen did not stick around and wickets started to tumble on a regular intervals and parks found themselves at 129-9 on the 30th over. Only U13 colt Aryan Desai Jr showed any resistance and played beautifully to hang around for 9 overs with the last man Manicks Shankar to get the scores over 150+. Parks ended their innings with a below par 159 all out. Aryan Desai Jr top scored with 38. For Orsett, Lewis Markham bowled exceptionally well picking up 4 wickets for 28 in 14 overs.

In reply, Parks opening bowler Manicks Shankar (6-1-19-2) removed both opening batsman within the first three overs. When Syed Mutaqeen removed the number three batsman with scores at 11, Parks were hoping for an unlikely defence of their low score. However Orsett’s number 4 and 5 batsmen Ryan Thomas (81*) and Sushantha Mandal (58*) knuckled down and played with patience and aggression to score big to take their side home with 10 overs to spare. Parks skipper tried 9 bowlers without any further luck.

This was a hugely disappointing results for Parks on their home ground against a team who is at the bottom end of the table. Parks did not preform to their usual potential in all three departments and need to get back to their winning ways soon to have any chance of competing for that elusive top spot.
