Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won by 12 runs

Match report Parks won the toss and elected to bat on a dry and flat home wicket against a young Frenford team. Openers Amar Desai and Fazan Habib made use of the conditions very well and batted beautifully to put on a 105 partnership at the 20 over mark against a very disciplined bowling attack. When Amar departed for 45, just after the drinks break, Fazan took the attack to the bowlers and went on to score a well-crafted 96 and was unlucky to get his maiden century. At one stage Parks were 179 -2 at the 39th over and was looking for a big total. However, a mini collapse towards the end resulted in the final innings total of 224-9. For Frenford captain Suliman Kazi and young left-arm pacer Adam Akram bowled exceptionally well taking 2 wickets a piece.

In reply, Parks opening bowlers Manicks Shankar (8-0-32-0) and Thomas Vernes (8-0-30-0) bowled with good control and only gave away 62 runs for the first 16 overs. After the drinks break, the introduction of U15 colt Ibad Usman resulted in the first wicket with his first ball. Frenford’s number 3 batsman young Hasnain Akram showed his class way beyond his age by smashing an eye catching 75* to keep the opposition in the game till the very end. He was ably supported by Aryan Mayo (62). Wickets were hard to come by and the game went to the wire and Frenford required 23 off the final over for a famous win. However, Kavinkumar Veloopillai held his nerve and bowled the final over giving away only 9 runs resulting in a 12-run victory for Parks.
