Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Lost By 3 wickets

Match report Visiting newly promoted West Essex 4th Xl won the toss and invited the home side to bat first. Parks found scoring tough early on against a very good bowling and fielding unit and found themselves 55 -2 after 20 overs.

After the drinks break both Amar Desai (43) and Maran Mariyathas (45) took the attack to the opposition and accelerated the innings. Other contributions came from Fazan Habib (18), Akhil Patel (20) and an entertaining quick fire 35 from Anuj Tewari including number of mammoth sixes. Parks ended their innings with a very respectable 194-8 which was a fantastic recovery under the circumstances.

In reply Parks opening bowler Manicks Shankar (5-0-32-2) made the break through on the very first over by removing the in form Graeme Newton. However West Essex Captain Aron Nassim (53) and Antony Smith (57) formed a partnership to frustrate the bowling attack. The overall bowling performance was below par for Parks on the day with 29 extras being conceded which allowed West Essex to get closer to the target easily. A spirited late bowling attack by Gurmit Bhatia (6-1-18-3) and Chetan Patel (5.3-0-23-1) slowed things down but it was a bridge too far in the end for parks to defend 194 on a flat wicket with a fast outfield. In the end West Essex won the match by 3 wickets and with few overs to spare.

On the positive side parks took 6 out of the 7 catches offered. A special mention goes to young colt Aryan Desai Jr for taking a sky high catch at the boundary line with no effort whatsoever.

Parks must improve the bowling to compete against the upcoming matches.
