Match report For the first league match of the season, after winning the toss, Parks skipper Manicks Shankar invited the newly promoted Old Brentwood to bat first.

Parks opened the attack with Aryan Desai and Yash Patel. Old Brentwood openers Richard Bray and B.Loader started the innings with a positive intent and put pressure on the opening bowlers from the very beginning. A flat track and a fast outfield meant runs started to flow freely and Old Brentwood piled on the runs and reached 100 in 14 overs.

After a number of bowling changes, Maran Mariyathas ((7-0-37-1) provided the breakthrough by removing the dangerous Richard Bray who scored a sparkling 81 with scores at 119-1 after 19 overs. Debutant U13 colt Prajen Kavinkumar bowled with great control to stem the flow of runs with his leg breaks and took his first senior wicket on his 5th over (8-0-37-1).

After the drinks break, Parks tighten the grip and restricted the opposition to a competitive 229-6 after 40 overs. Other wickets were shared between Manicks Shankar (5-0-29-1), Ibad Usman (4-0-18-1) and Anuj Tewari (6-0-40-2).

In reply parks lost the opener Prajen Kavinkumar on the 2nd over and one down batsman Fazan Habib on the 5th over with scores at 5 for 2. However inform opener Chetan Patel (77) and the ever reliable Maran Mariyathas (35) came to together to put on a valuable partnership of 98 to steady the ship. Other notable batting performances came from Anuj Tewari (32) , Yash Patel (14) and vice captain Gurmit Bhatia who scored a fluent 57* to see the side home with 5 overs to spare with a huge six over mid wicket.

Both Bowles and Raj Geedikanti bowled very well for Old Brentwood taking 2 wickets a piece.

Three U13 colts (Prajen, Aryan JD and Ibad) debuted for the 4th Xl. Both Prajen (7-0-37-1) and Ibad (4-0-18-1) bowled very well and young Aryan showed 100% commitment in the outfield saving over 15 runs in the process. It is great to see our young talent shining through and enjoying the game.

A great start to the season and Parks will look to build on this performance for the upcoming games.
