Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Lost By 121 runs

Match report After promotion wasn’t an option anymore Parks travelled to Old Brentwood with nothing to lose to finish off the season. Old Brents won the toss and elected to bat first on what was a very good wicket. They got off to the best possible start scoring 140 for no wicket off their 16 overs. Parks just weren’t at the races and it seemed as though they would get 450-500. However, some economical bowling from Paresh Kelley and Ravi Teja slowed their momentum down. Om Thakeria picked up 4 wickets and Parks pulled the game back well. With the small boundaries and good batting wicket 320 to 330 was par and Old Brentwood finished on 355. A score in which Parks thought they could chase.

Parks got off to a good start, putting Old Brents on the back foot. But with 5 out of top 6 all getting starts and then getting out, it wasn’t a great a chase. No one was able to get their head down and really dig in deep and take the game deep, there was no platform built and with the change of ball midway through the innings meant a change in fortune for the batsmen. Parks were bowled out for 234 and lost by 121 runs. It was disappointing to finish our season off with a defeat like that but this season has shown promising signs for this young team and hopefully next year we can go one step further and get promoted.
