Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won By 57 runs

Match report After last weeks loss, promotion wasn’t impossible but it was now out of our hands and we were relying on other results. Skipper Paran Kalley won the toss and elected to bat first. Parks were dominant from ball one against a Orsett and Thurrock team that had nothing to play for. Bilaal Anwar started the attack from the off and didn’t allow their batsmen to settle. At one stage it seemed as though Parks were going to score over 340. Everyone in the top 6 got starts but weren’t able to kick on and really get that big score. Finishing on 298 was a bit disappointing considering Parks were on 160 after just 17 overs and only losing 1 wicket. But the pitch wasn’t the easiest to bat on and 299 was going to take some getting.

Orsett were never really in the game. Parks picked up wickets at regular intervals and didn’t allow the Orsett batsmen to build a partnership and put the pressure on the Parks bowlers. Om Thakeria was the pick of the bowlers picking up 4 wickets and showing his class with the ball once again. Orsett got 20/30 runs more than they should have but Parks still won’t by 70 odd runs. It was a good win and with Epping winning last week it confirms that Parks can no longer go up. Unfortunately it’s another year in div 2 but this is the closest we’ve got in a while and to do this with a young team is a good effort from the team. Got one more game against Old Brentwood to finish of our season.
