Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won By 7 Wickets

Match report The Oakfield Parkonians' U16s welcomed Ilford for their first Matchplay match of the season in nice and warm conditions. Captain Krishan Dilipkumar lost the toss and Parks had to bowl first.

However, what occurred next was unprecedented and Ilford found themselves 34-4 with a beautiful opening spell from Charith (0-23) and Vajran, who was the pick of the bowlers on the day (4-20, with his swing and left-arm angle causing problems of all sorts for the batsmen. Special mention must also be given to him for his fantastic caught and bowled. Sriraman too bowled with great hostility and with bounce (2-16) and Ashwin who deceived the batsmen with his slower balls (2-29). Prajen cleaned up the tail and Ilford were bowled out comprehensively by a strong bowling performance by the U16 bowling attack.

The U16S looked from the start to chase the target aggressively and raced to 34 for the loss of no wickets after 4 overs with some positive batting from Krishan and Prajen. However, the loss of 3 wickets put Parks into a tricky situation. However Mannan (32*) and Aryan (8*) batted sensibly and stayed together till the end and Parks had managed to chase the total within 14 overs with Mannan hitting a few sixes.

All in all it was a highly positive match for the Parks and they should take their confidence from this into the next match.
