Match report with a theoretical mathematical possibility of still gaining promotion Parks hosted Wansteads 6thXI hoping to avenge the 6 wicket defeat from earlier in the season.

Skipper Bal Diocee won the toss and elected to bat first in the hope that the light mizzle would make it harder to bat 2nd.

Shahid Khan (5) opened the batting with young Aayush Desai. After a solid albeit slow start, Aayush was scuttled without troubling the scorers, and Shahid slipped when sent back attempting to take a single and was unable to make his ground. Thomas Varnes made a swift 26 including a huge 6 before falling to the accurate bowling of Ritesh Patel. Amar Desai fell to another run-out for 10 trying to take a second run that wasn't really there. The star of the innings was young Sai - who batted beautifully making a solid 21 falling eventually to Ritesh who was the pick of the Wanstead bowlers taking three wickets in all.

Sachin Fing was again unlucky being given out LBW off an inside edge - although he was lucky not to fall LBW the ball before. Akhil Patel fell to the 3rd run-out of the innings - not good. Skipper Bal batted down the order and tried to up the scoring rate and give young Sai some company, but fell to an excellent slip catch by Ritesh on 12. Things then fell away with Ibad Usman, Sarbjeet Singh and Binu Chandy adding only another 4 runs between them.

Wanstead began their reply with Sammi opening with Aryan Ahmed - obviously Wanstead had had a difficult week with selection and availability just like the Parks, as Sammi opening was very atypical. Sammi fell on 17 to Akhil's bowling but the game was taken away from Parks with a solid 50 not out from Aryan. Parks were able to prise out Mahir Hussain for 20 and Chris Ley for 5, with Aayush taking one wicket and the ever dependable Shahid taking two. Wanstead were able to chase it down with 6wickets and nearly 6 overs to spare.

Fielding let the Parks down with a number of dropped catches and ground-fielding that left much room for improvement. The bowling unfortunately lacked enough penetration to make us competitive and avenge the early season defeat at the hands of the same opposition.

Next week the Parks 5thXI travel to Fives & Heronians for the penultimate league game of the season.
