Match report With summer availabilities causing havoc at the club, a depleted 4th XI team travelled to face Gidea Park & Romford this week. After wining the toss Parks skipper invited the hosts to bat first on a very green looking damp pitch.

Parks opened the bowling with a new ball pairing of veteran Nav Kalley and the new ‘kid’ on the block Sachin Arora. Both bowlers started very well with some accurate line and length bowling creating chances from the very first ball. Sachin’s in-swingers proved very effective on a damp and bouncy pitch with 3 valuable early wickets. Nav on the other end was unlucky as two of the early chances went down begging but he still managed to grab a wicket leaving Gidea Park 39-4 after the initial 16 overs. Sachin 3-20 off 8 overs and Nav 1-18 off 8 overs.

During the middle overs, Gidea Park managed to free their shackles and started to score freely with Jack Griffin scoring a well made 58 and Liam Neil scoring 34. However the introduction of Maran Mariyathas to the attack put the breaks immediately as he took 4-22 to restrict the hosts to 131 all out. Other 2 wickets were shared by Manicks Shankar and Vijey Vijeyatnathan.

Parks reply did not start well as they found scoring extremely difficult and lost wickets at regular intervals to a very tight bowling attack. Middle order batsmen Nikhith (20), Inderjit (18) and Maran (13) showed some resistance but on an indifferent pitch even 131 proved a tough chase and parks got bowled out for a disappointing 74, the lowest score of the season. For Gidea Park Liam Neil bowled exceptionally well taking 6 for 12 including a hat-rick. In the end lack of depth in the batting order was the deciding factor for a match Parks should have won easily.

Next week Parks will travel to face league leaders Walthamstow and must turn things around quickly to put up a fight against the strongest team in the league.
