Match report On another wet and damp day, Parks’ 4th team visited Ardleigh Green at their picturesque ground in Havering. Winning the toss, Parks’ skipper Manicks Shankar invited the home team to bat. Conditions were moist and damp but manageable.

Parks opened the bowling with new ball partnership of the season, Akhil Patel and Manicks Shankar. Both bowlers bowled with precision and control and made life difficult for the batting team on a surprisingly bouncy pitch. Another excellent fielding performance saw Ardleigh Green reaching 41-5 after 16 overs. The very first wicket, was a caught and bowled by Akhil with a forward diving one handed catch worth a special note. Akhil (8 overs 3-18), Shankar (8 overs 2-23).

All five follow up bowlers contributed well to keep a grip on things and Ardleigh Green ended their innings with 144 for all out at the 38th over. Maran (7.3 overs 2 - 34) and Keerhti (5 overs 2- 16) bowled with pace and picked up 2 wickets a piece and Nimanka picked up the last wicket to round things up. Paul Challis top scored for Ardleigh Green with a well crafted 40.

Knowing dark clouds and rain are just around the corner, Parks skipper instructed both openers to keep up the run rate to get to the 20th over with a minimum of 80 runs on the board to ensure a game and to secure 20 points. However, both the openers had other plans and went on the attack from ball one with a four and did not stop the assault and reached the target of 145 on the 21st over without losing a wicket. Returning opener Bhavik Trivedi scored a brutal 66 not out and Keerthi ‘Kit-kat’ Thangavel followed his good form from the previous week with a fluent 77 not out. In the process both went straight to the top of the club fantasy league points tables gaining some valuable points.

This was another convincing win against a top opponents giving the team confidence to take their campaign forward.

The match was played in good spirits by both sides. Ardleigh Green are a friendly bunch of gents who we very much look forward to entraining when they visit us for the home match later in the season.
