Match report Thi weeks game saw Parks travel to fifth placed Westcliff On Sea knowing any kind of win would put Parks back in the hunt for promotion. With only 3 games being played in the division because of the weather and 2 of those being played at the same place, Parks prayed that things cleared up in Southend and we were able to get a game in. After a delayed start of 2 hours it meant that the game had been reduced to 31 overs in the first innings and 29 overs in the second. Skipper Paran Kalley lost the toss and Parks were asked to bat first. Parks got off to the worst start possible losing 2 wickers inside the first 4 overs and were on the back foot. The conditions suited the Westcliff bowlers and Parks struggled. However, Janagan Vijayanathan (20) and Ravi Teja (30) consolidated and frustrated the Westcliff bowlers. Kalley (41) came to the crease with Teja and took the attack to the Westcliff bowlers. Due to the reduction in overs Parks were unsure what a good score would be, but a few cameos down the lower order for Parks meant that they got to a more than respectable total of 141 off their 31 overs. This is something that Parks were satisfied with at the half time stage and it was now over to the bowlers to try and get 10 wickets in just 29 overs.

The weather seemed to have got better and cleared up for the second innings. Selva Ramasamy (13.4-1-55-7) opened the bowling for Parks and picked up 1 of his 7 wickets with just his third second ball. He was well backed up by Anujan Thiru (7-0-29-2) who made early inroads along with Ramasamy within the first 8 overs. However, Westcliff took control of the game. Their number 4 proved a hard nut to crack and as long as he was at the crease Westcliff looked as though they would pick up the 20 points. But Parks kept picking up wickets at the right time and didn't allow Westcliff to build a match winning partnership. With the score at 80 for 5 and just 9 overs to go the win was looking unlikely for Parks. But up stepped Ramasamy, his death bowling was absolutely brilliant getting the 5 wickets either bowled or LBW. He bowled with great pace and executed his Yorkers to perfection. From 80-5 to 111 for 8 it meant that Parks needed 2 wickets to win with just 18 balls to be bowled. The Westcliff 8 and 10 did well to see out the third last over so it meant with the score being 122-8 and only 12 balls left the match was still up in the air. 2 beautifully executed yorkers by Ramasamy and it meant that Parks had done it they had won the game with 7 balls to spare and picked up 10 wickets inside 28 overs. Credit to Westcliff for always going for the win and never giving up but all credit goes to Selva Ramasamy. His death bowling brought Parks back into the game and surely was a joy to watch. With just 4 games to go Parks are 12 points off the promotion place and have to play the top 2 within the next 4 weeks. The end of the season is set to be a thriller.
