Match report OPCC 5th XI lost away to Old Brentwood 3rd XI by 6 wickets.

In conditions that can be only be described as cold, wet and windy Parks 5th XI went about setting a good score with high spirits against Old Brentwood’s 3rd XI.

Amar Desai exemplified opening batting on a difficult pitch seeing off the opening bowlers on his way to an excellent 72, his second half century in as many games, putting away the bad balls and keeping the score ticking on a very slow outfield. He was supported brilliantly by Krishan Dilipkumar (21) at the other end who stuck with Amar for no less than 21 overs putting Parks in a good position. A quickfire contribution from Nikhith Poddutoori (25) took Parks to 167 from their 40 overs.

The response in the field started well with Thomas Varnes (6-0-20-1) dismissing opener Steinberg early on. Unfortunately, Baldock (55) and Burness (67*) steadied the ship for Old Brentwood’s both scoring half centuries which near enough saw the opposition through to the target in 32.2 overs. One positive to take from the performance in the field was three colts Praven Sureshen, Syed Muttaqueen and Daniel Imran took a wicket each in conditions that were far from ideal.
