Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Lost by 15 runs

Match report Oakfield Parkonians captain Sarankan Skandamoorthy started the day off well by winning the toss and putting the opposition into bat in bowler friendly conditions. The new ball pairing of Kabir Parhar (8-0-27-1) and Matthew Holland (6-1-23-0) bowled tight lines and put the opposition on the back foot early. Harlow batsmen had steady partnerships but constant wickets from the park bowlers kept them in the game. Sarankan Skandamoorthy (6.2-1-28-3) and Dilan Patel (6-0-49-3) bowled well at the death and grabbed 3 crucial wickets each to stop Harlow from reaching 200. It was a great effort from Parks 2XI as they fielded the last 20 odd overs in cold wet conditions, however, they did feel it was 20/30 runs too many.

After the tea break OPCC started the run chase well with the opening standing of 51 after 10 overs. Some aggressive shots and good running from Shane Vamadeven (34) and Haaris Shah (45) put the opposition bowlers under big pressure. The departure Shane brought Janagan Vijayanthan (40) to the crease. Jana and Haaris put on 79 run partnership to put the pressure the Harlow and put Oakfield in good position with 10 over remaining and wickets in hand. However, a quick wickets soon put OPCC under pressure, a quick fire 28 not out from Dilan Patel did boost the hopes of the parks but with wickets constantly falling meant Oakfield finished 15 runs short the the target.

Onto next week where OPCC travel away to local rivals Loughton hoping for their second win of the season.
