Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Lost By 17 runs

Match report This was our first league outing in the Nassar Hussain Division and second of the season. The new track looked an absolute belter and having won the toss, West Essex were asked to have a bat first. This was a new opening bowl pairing with Anujan Thiru partnering our ever reliable Selvam Ramasamy and both bowled a very good line, without much success early on. Ravi Raval came on as first change and slowed the run rate. The opposition managed to get 210 with the loss of 7 wickets but it should have been less as the Parks gave away too many extras and dropped 5 catches in the field. However, it still looked like a below par score on a pitch that was playing well and one OPCC were very confident of chasing down. The pick of the bowlers was Ravi who bowled a great spell and finished with 8-0-21-2

Park’s reply started off in the worst possible fashion as we were one down within the first over but Faisal Bhatti (40) and James Foley (18) steadied the ship. However, OPCC lost wickets at regular intervals and despite a very entertaining 32 from Paresh Kalley and small contributions from the lower order, it was not enough to overhaul the target and Parks fell 17 runs shout and were bowled out for 193 with 2 balls to spare. If we had taken our catches and batted more sensibly, this was a game we should have won but we look forward to next week and a much-improved performance.
