Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won 5's Conceded

Match report Fives could only manage to raise a team of 7 for our Cox & Kings Cup fixture so have conceded the tie. We agreed to play a friendly with Fives borrowing Oakfield players to make an 11 when they were fielding.

Oakfield lost the toss and were put into bat. Amanjit Singh and Reuben Chandy opened and made a steady start before Reuben was out in the sixth over, caught and bowled when on 21 with the score on 38. Talha Raja and Amanjit made a thirty partnership for the second wicket before Amanjit was clean bowled on 27. With Talha and Sujeev Sugantham in complete control it wasn’t until the 13th over when Tahla (15) was the third wicket to fall with the score on 104. Sujeev’s (27) superb innings came to an end in the following over which left Andrien Amirthinayagam (7), Samuel Varnes (11) and the tail end to add quick runs to leave Oakfield on 149 for 8 after their 20 overs.

The 150 target was a huge ask for Fives batsmen as Oakfield’s bowlers applied early pressure. 4 wickets fell in the first 8 overs with only 33 runs on the board; 3 for skipper Suleman Shaheen (4-1-14-3) and 1 for Tahla (4-1-19-1). Tight bowling from Karandeep Bansel (3-0-8-0) and Arya Karthikeyan (2-0-9-0) kept up the pressure leaving Ali Khan 2-0-16-1) and Praven Sureshan (1.4-0-3-1) to finish off the innings. Fives were all out for 69 in 16.4 overs leaving Oakfield the winners by 80 runs.
