Match report The U15’s first match of the season saw us play host Bancroft Lions in the Dennis Peters (National) Cup. With blue skies and no sign of clouds this promised to be the hottest day of the year so far. Bancroft won the toss and duly put Oakfield into bat; the loss of Sujeev’s wicket in the first over brought Talha to the crease and with Reuben looking in good form a 30 run partnership ensued before Reuben was caught on 23. Amanjit was in at four; he slowly built his innings and at the halfway stage Oakfield was on 34 for 2. When Talha was bowled on 15 Samuel (12) came in to hurry the score along, Amanjit also picked up the run rate before being caught and bowled on 32. Adrien (6*) and Suleman (6*) saw out the 20 overs with Oakfield finishing on a respectable 121 for 5.

Suleman opened the bowling with Talha; a run out in the first over followed by a wicket for Suleman (4-1-18-1) in the third and two in the fourth for Talha (3-0-9-2) left Bancroft reeling on 19 for 4. Karandeep (3-0-9-2) and Jamie (2-0-11-1) kept up the momentum taking further wickets, two of which were superb catches by Sujeev, a second run out followed when Sujeev fielding at point sent the ball back above the stumps for Samuel to whip off the bails. Oakfield were fielding brilliantly with little signs of this being the first match of the season. Ali (1-0-3-1) and Daniel (0.3-0-1-1) finished off the Bancroft innings with a wicket apiece; all six of Oakfield’s bowlers getting wickets.

Bancroft’s innings finished on 62 all out after 13.3 overs, an Oakfield win by 6 wickets.
