Frenford v Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club 1st XI on Sat 20 Jul 2019 at 12.30
Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Won by 162 runs
Match report
Oakfield Parks travelled to local rivals Frenford with more then bragging rights up for grabs as we played second. Parks lost the toss and were put in.
Well all one can say is Parks played the perfect game and put in maybe their best batting display since joining division 2. Shawn Tuitt opened and exploded in to action with a power hit 66 which had some towering 6s. He was ably paired by Sachin Vara who scored 23 but it was a run a ball affair with also some mighty blows. Shawn in particular propelled Parks to a great fast start taking advantage of the power plays to dismantle their opening bowlers. The great start was carried on by none other then Ravi Teja who once again put on a master class in batting and how to pace an innings. He stroked his way to 87 of only 80 balls in a perfectly paced knock. Vice captain Harris Khan came in at 5 and did a good job steadying then accelerating to score a pleasant and important 35. However, the cherry on the cake were young guns Paresh Kalley and Tarun Bhatia who frankly smoked it in the last few overs to take us over 300. They joined each other when the score was on 270 and put on a 36 runs partnership in a strike rate well over 200. The highlight was Tarun hitting their first class seamer for a straight 6 in the final over. Fantastic batting performance from the team to post an amazing and intimidating 306.
Parks enjoyed their tea knowing they had a good score but the job was only half done. Yet the bowling matched the batting in performance. It was started by the opening seamers who strangled the Frenford batsman. Anujan Thiru was the pick of the seamers with 7-22-3 as he took out 3 of their top 4, with good accurate bowling as per the game plan and carried on his wicket taking form of late. One of the wickets was the dangerous Sagar Joshi who is tipped for great things. But let’s not forget Selvam Ramasamy who maybe picked up no wickets but was tight and economical leading to others picking wickets as he piled on the pressure. With Frenford struggling in arrived Ravi Teja (10-24-3) who weaved a web of magic to snare 3 wickets and bamboozle the batsman with his control and flight. So in the end matters were wrapped up in the 37th over as Parks comprehensively won in the perfect game by a massive 162 runs.
Thus a great win against the second placed team and Parks themselves move in to second. We host Harlow Town next week knowing only our best will be good enough to get another win.
