Match report Away to Benfleet and the pitch was wet, the outfield wet and a fierce wind blowing. It was to dry out, be sunny later and a lot less windy. A massive toss to win and bowl first but sadly it was lost and Parks had to bat.

Conditions were hard as shots limped across the outfield and severe wind meant batsman could not do back lifts properly. The mainstay was Faisal Bhatti who scored a patient 45 of 125 balls to anchor the innings. And a late partnership between Anujan Thiru and Ravi Raval at 10 and 11 of 24 meant we posted a decent 129 in very tough conditions.

As expected the wicket dried out and outfield meant run scoring became easier and full reward was now obtained for good shots. Despite this Parks rallied and excellent bowling from Eshun Kalley and Selvam Ramasamy got us right in the game. Eshun was superb bowling a consistent probing line, looking to be patient and hit good areas hard, it worked as he scalped 4 wickets. At the other end Selvam bowling in to a wind bowled 12 miserly overs for only 18 runs and 2 wickets. Thus Benfleet battled hard but we kept picking up wickets. In the end we had them at 117-9 but we just could not pick up the final wicket as they crept over the line. The last over was filled with excellent lbw shouts and a near run out but we just could not get it and Benfleet grabbed a famous win.

A fantastic game of cricket played in great spirit by both sides. Parks done all they could as all was against us after the toss and yet we nearly won. We dust ourselves down and play a limited overs game next week at home hoping to carry on our recent good form.
