Match report On the hottest day of the year, Parks 4ths hosted Upminster CC. Parks captain losing the toss for the 2nd consecutive week, was asked to bowl first by the opposition.

Upminster opened with father & son pair D & N Brown, and Parks opened with the ever reliable Manicks Shanker(8-1-29-1) & Jigar Desai (8-2-21-3). After a flurry of early boundaries, Parks found some control and Jigar manged to trap senior D Brown LBW for 14, with Shanker quickly removing the next batsman. The 3rd wicket partnership between two young colts N Brown & C Berry allowed Upminster to consolidate, but Parks were not worried as the run rate was never over 4 an over. The change bowlers Bhavik Trivedi (5-1-20-0) and Chetan Patel (7-1-27-0) kept the opposition in check with some good bowling but with no further wickets failing Park’s captain turned to Adam Goldman (5-0-21-2) & Shahid Khan (3-0-24-0). Adam bowled well, taking the wickets of N Brown & Upminster captain K Govani. Parks captain Gurmit Bhatia (4-0-26-1) bought himself on and manged to dismiss Upminster’s young colt C Berry for 46. So, at the end of the 40 overs Parks managed to restrict the opposition to 172 for 7.

Parks went into bat confident that they can surpass the set target. Opening the innings today were George Christian & Dan Shalom. Both batsman started well but inform batsman George was first to perish for 8, with next in batsman Eshwar Kambham failing for a quick-fire 13. Like Upminster the 3rd wicket partnership of 41 between Dan & Adam steadied the ship, with both batsman playing with maturity, taking quick singles and dispatching the bad balls to all parts of the ground. However, after drinks Dan was dismissed for a well compiled 56, and soon after Parks lost 2 further quick wickets of Amar Desai and Gurmit. At this point Parks were wobbling a little, but Adam (42n.o) and Chetan Patel (24 no) shared an unbeaten 59 run partnership to see Parks over the finish line in the 37th over.

Parks move their attention to next week; traveling to Shenfield CC, were they hope to continue the recent winning streak.
