Oakfield Parkonians Cricket Club Lost 76 runs

Match report On a sunny Saturday, with a pitch that had some grass and looking damp, Park’s Captain won the toss and decided to bowl first.

Opening the bowling for Park’s this week were Nav Kalley & Jigar Desai; both bowlers bowling superbly, with Nav bowling 14 straight overs (14-1-36-2), and Jigar spreading his over 3 different spells (14-3-48-4). First change Chetan Patel was only able to bowl 4 overs this week, as he injured his bowling hand attempting to take a difficult catch, meaning vice captain Maran Mariyathas got a extended bowl today (7-0-31-2). In the end, a very good Brentwood batting line-up were restricted to 171 of the allocated 45 overs.

Park’s went into bat with confidence and positive intent, but some unlucky dismissal’s and poor batting performance’s, Park’s were bowled out for only 95 runs in the 37th. Both openers were unlucky with their run outs, with Shahid Khan run out at the none-strikers end, being outside his crease, when a bullet hit from George Christian was deflected of the bowlers hand onto the wicket. George who was looking good for his 14 misjudged a 2nd run, and was run out. The following batsman’s simply failed to apply themselves and played what can only be categorised as poor shots. The only exception being Captain Gurmit Bhatia who made a patient 30, and late in the innings Vijay Vijaynathan & Jigar Desai making 12 & 8 respectively, batted for a good 12 overs, to almost get Park’s a draw.

Park’s need to put this poor batting display behind them, and focus on next weeks visit to local rivals Buckhurst Hill CC.
